Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to hold accept/reject authority on structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies, inspecting per AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required, with WPS/PQR review and NDT direction.

The role involves field and shop inspections, signing inspection reports for the engineer of record and building official, with travel and per diem as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI required with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC steel and bolting certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records; witness qualification tests.
• Direct nondestructive testing and write inspection and nonconformance reports.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection; write repair instructions.
