Marshfield Medical Center, part of Marshfield Clinic Health System, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery team in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

The Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery NP/PA provides advanced nursing care for adult patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary care team in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Qualifications

• Master’s, postmaster’s, or doctoral NP program completion from an accredited school.
• Current RN and NP licensure in each state of practice.
• 1–3 years in cardiovascular/thoracic surgery, critical care, or surgical specialties.
• DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
• Board certification: AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG, ACNP-BC preferred.
• Credentialing requirements may affect minimum qualifications.

Responsabilités

• Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments and risk stratification.
• Participate in daily inpatient rounds and adjust care plans as needed.
• Assist in OR and perform post‑op wound care and drain management as credentialed.
• Order/interpret labs, imaging, EKGs and initiate interventions.
• Coordinate discharge planning and medication reconciliation.
• Educate patients and families on procedures and recovery expectations.
• Deliver handoffs to referring physicians and ensure follow‑up.
• Contribute to quality improvement and EMR documentation.
