Job summary

Heart One Associates, LLC in Peoria, AZ is seeking a Nuclear EKG Technician to perform treadmill and nuclear stress tests under physician supervision.

You will ensure accurate test administration, patient safety, documentation, and data forwarding to physicians for interpretation; a High School diploma and BLS are required, ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. An associate or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
  • Certification as a Cardiac Stress Technician or related technologist is preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience performing treadmill and/or nuclear stress tests in a cardiology or diagnostic setting.
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform treadmill and nuclear stress tests with accuracy and patient safety.
  • Ensure proper documentation and forward test results to the physician for interpretation.
  • Maintain equipment readiness and assist in coordinating patient scheduling and follow-up testing.

Description

Position Summary: Perform treadmill and nuclear stress tests in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Ensure accurate test administration, patient safety, and proper documentation. Forward test results and data to the
physician for analysis and interpretation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Be positive, helpful, friendly, supportive, sincere and genuine to all patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Be attentive and responsive to doctors’ requests and/or practice administrator/team leader requests in a timely manner.
  • Be punctual and regular in attendance.
  • Make decisions that reflect the best interests of Heart One Associates and provide quality patient care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality as governed by the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Perform EKGs at the physician’s request.
  • Check the crash cart daily to ensure all emergency equipment and medications are present, functional, and within expiration dates; reorder or replace medications and supplies as needed
  • Prepare patients for treadmill and nuclear stress tests, providing clear explanations and reassurance to promote comfort and understanding.
  • Conduct cardiac stress tests using approved protocols under the supervision of a cardiologist.
  • Monitor patient condition, EKG tracings, and vital signs throughout the procedure, recognizing and responding promptly to any abnormal findings or adverse reactions.
  • Ensure proper setup, calibration, and maintenance of all cardiac testing equipment (defibrillator daily and run test strips).
  • Accurately document test results, observations, and any patient symptoms during the procedure in EMR and Ultralinq.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists and nuclear medicine technologists to ensure efficient and accurate diagnostic workflows.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe testing environment in compliance with clinic infection control and safety standards.
  • Assist in patient scheduling, electronic health record (EHR) data entry, and coordination of follow-up testing or consultations.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Cardiac Stress Technician, EKG Technician, or Cardiovascular Technologist preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience performing treadmill and/or nuclear stress tests in a cardiology or diagnostic clinic setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLs) certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cardiac physiology, ECG interpretation, and pharmacologic stress testing procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or emergency situations.
