Job summary

The Cardiovascular Center of Florida is seeking a dedicated Cardiac Stress Technician (PRN) to join our cardiovascular team. This role performs and monitors exercise and pharmacological stress testing, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the testing process.

The successful candidate will be organized, clinically knowledgeable, and experienced in cardiovascular diagnostics, contributing to high-quality outpatient care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in cardiology, cardiac diagnostics, stress testing, EKG interpretation, or related cardiovascular setting.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and arrhythmia recognition.
• Ability to recognize abnormal ECG findings and escalate appropriately.
• Strong communication and patient service skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exercise and pharmacological stress testing procedures.
• Obtain and document patient history, symptoms, medications, and vital signs prior to testing.
• Apply and monitor ECG leads and cardiac monitoring equipment.
• Conduct treadmill stress tests per clinical protocols.
• Assist physicians during stress testing procedures.
• Monitor patient response and recognize signs of distress or emergencies.
• Document test results and patient responses in the EMR.
• Ensure testing equipment is functioning and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure efficient patient flow.

Position Summary

Join a Leading Cardiovascular Team! The Cardiovascular Center of Florida is seeking a dedicated, patient-focused Cardiac Stress Technician (PRN) to join our growing cardiology team. This role is responsible for performing and monitoring cardiac stress testing procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and exceptional service throughout the testing process.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, clinically knowledgeable, and experienced in cardiovascular diagnostics, with a strong commitment to delivering quality patient care in a fast-paced outpatient cardiology environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exercise and pharmacological cardiac stress testing procedures
• Obtain and document patient medical history, symptoms, medications, and vital signs prior to testing
• Apply and monitor ECG leads and cardiac monitoring equipment
• Conduct treadmill stress tests following established clinical protocols
• Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during stress testing procedures
• Monitor patient response throughout testing and recognize signs of cardiac distress or medical emergencies
• Perform blood pressure monitoring and continuous ECG interpretation during procedures
• Accurately document test results and patient responses within the electronic medical record
• Ensure all testing equipment is functioning properly and report maintenance concerns as needed
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and patient safety standards
• Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow

Requirements

Qualifications Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current BLS Certification
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in cardiology, cardiac diagnostics, stress testing, EKG interpretation, or related cardiovascular healthcare setting
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and arrhythmia recognition
• Ability to recognize abnormal ECG findings and patient symptoms requiring escalation
• Strong communication and patient service skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional during emergency situations

Preferred

• Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT)
• Certified EKG Technician (CET)
• Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related healthcare field
• Experience performing treadmill and pharmacological stress testing
• Experience in an outpatient cardiology practice
• Familiarity with EMR and cardiovascular diagnostic systems
• Experience in Cardiology, Stress Testing, EKG, or Cardiovascular Diagnostics: 1 year (Preferred)
