Job summary

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ seeks a CVOR Tech to assist in cardiac/vascular and other surgeries. Under RN supervision, you will scrub, pass instruments, and support aseptic technique in a fast-paced OR environment.

The role requires certification as a surgical technologist and 1–2 years (or 3–4 in some cases) of experience, with the ability to scrub in at least two surgical specialties and to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and current basic life support certification.
• Requires certification as a surgical technologist and 1–2 years of experience OR 3–4 years in a surgical technologist role.
• Where applicable must be registered with State Regulatory Agency.
• Must scrub proficiently on a minimum of two surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures, pulls instruments and ensures instrument readiness.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs and maintains competency in two surgical specialties.
• Adheres to aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout procedures.
• Ensures accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists.
• Assists with OR turnover and stocking of supplies.
• Participates in or leads training of staff and students as assigned.
• May provide business support to the department with admin tasks.
• Follows safety procedures for labeling, handling of specimens, sharps, and radiation safety.
