Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join the OR team. The role focuses on aseptic technique, instrument handling, and assisting in neurosurgery, spine, and other complex procedures. Requires extensive OR experience and NBSTSA/NCCT certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or completed military training for Surgical Technology/Operating Room Specialist.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider.
• Current NBSTSA or NCCT certification.
• 5 years total operating room experience; 2 years in specialized area such as neurosurgery/spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, complex ortho, robotics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic technique during procedures.
• Assist in preparing supplies and instruments before, during, and after surgery.
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assist RN circulator in patient prep, supplies, and room turnover.
• Support highly specialized procedures (neurosurgery, spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, robotics).
• Monitor sterility and document charges accurately.
• Participate in staff education and performance improvement activities.
• Serve as a preceptor and clinical resource to others.
