Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the CVOR, days shift, 40 hours per week. The role supports the OR team by anticipating surgeon needs and maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures.

Ideal candidates will graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program, be CST eligible, and demonstrate strong communication, time management, and teamwork. Certification in CST is strongly preferred and on-call/weekend responsibilities apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program with CST eligibility.
• RN/LPN with CST experience may qualify if applicable.
• Two years perioperative experience preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR provider required.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organization skills.
• Knowledge of confidentiality and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Check physician profiles with supplies on case carts to ensure availability.
• Apply asepsis to set up and maintain sterile field.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sequence of events for procedures.
• Demonstrate dexterity with instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintain awareness of patient and family rights and safety.
• Follow hospital policies and department standards.
• Participate in ongoing education and quality improvement activities.
