Job summary

Trinity Health MI in Muskegon, MI, is seeking a CVOR Surgical Technologist for full-time, day shift, 36 hours per week with some 8- and 10-hour shifts. Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Preferred AS degree in Surgical Technology.
• At least 1 year of inpatient Surgical Technologist experience.
• CPR certification within 1 month of hire; NBSTSA certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons by selecting, organizing and passing instruments and supplies.
• Maintain aseptic technique during all procedures.
• Identify breaches and implement corrective actions.
• Perform reprocessing: decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization and documentation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What the CVOR Surgical Technologist Will Do

• Provides assistance as necessary to surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating and passing surgical instruments, medical supplies, equipment, and provides retraction under the direction of the surgeon.
• Maintains highest standard of aseptic technique during all operative procedures, including surgical attire, surgical hand scrub, surgical gowning of self and team, surgical gloving of self and team, boundary between sterile and non-sterile areas, and traffic patterns.
• Identifies breaches in aseptic technique and implements interventions for resolution.
• Performs all phases of reprocessing including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, documentation, and problem resolution for parameter failure.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What the CVOR Surgical Technologist Will Need

• Minimum Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• Preferred Associate of Applied Science Surgical Technology.
• Certification or re-certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within one month of hire.
• NBSTA Surgical Technologist certification within 1 year of hire.
• Familiarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.
• Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.
• Must have at least one (1) year of inpatient Surgical Technologist experience
• Preferred one (1) year of Cardiovascular Services experience or open-heart surgery experience.
• Must be able to take required call for the open-heart team.
