Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the general to moderately complex surgical procedures in the operating room. You will handle instruments, assist the surgeon and team, and help with patient preparation and transport to ensure safety and comfort.

The role requires a Surgical Technology program graduate, and a current BLS certification or ability to obtain within one month. Shifts include 6:30am–5:00pm with 40 hours weekly and weekend rotation; a sign-on bonus of

Qualifications

_ GENERAL SUMMARY_ :

Under direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for the handling of surgical instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of the assigned surgical procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members. Also provides service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, and assisting surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

_ Qualifications: Qualifications

_ EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED_ :

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.

_ CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED_ :

• Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.
• Surgical Technologist certification required or 3-5 years of experience supporting complex high acuity surgical volume, as defined above, in lieu of a certification.
