Northwell Health in New York is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a 13-week contract to join the Perioperative team. Responsibilities include direct and indirect perioperative care, assisting the surgeon, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring equipment readiness.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least 1 year of surgical technologist experience, completion of an accredited program, and a CST credential (NBSTSA).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.
• Successful completion from a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist and CST credential required.

Responsabilités

• Implements and communicates the age-specific plan of care and gives thorough reports at shift changes.
• Performs turnover and room setup for surgeries, connects suction and equipment, ensures supplies are stocked.
• Monitors infection control and aseptic technique; maintains sterile field and documents actions.
• Adheres to aseptic techniques; assists with instrument processing and sterilization.
• Maintains environmental controls and waste disposal precautions.
• Performs sponge, sharp, and instrument counts with RN and acts on discrepancies.
• Assists with patient care procedures including labeling specimens and surgical skin prep under supervision.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Formation

High School Diploma or equivalent

Accredited Surgical Technologist program completed

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential (NBSTSA)
