Job summary

Palm Careers is seeking a CVOR Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a first shift, full-time position in Shenandoah Valley, VA. This Temp-to-Perm role involves scrub duties for cardiac surgeries, including CABG and valve procedures, with exposure to ECMO/MCS and advanced cardiac instrumentation.

You will work with a cardiovascular team, supporting surgeons, perfusionists, and OR staff in a high-stakes environment focused on patient safety and precision in the scrub role.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and BLS required.
• Active Virginia State License prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Own the scrub as the primary technologist for routine, complex, and emergency cardiac surgeries.
• Set up and maintain sterile fields, open-heart trays, sternal saws, EVH setups, and cannulation gear.
• Anticipate surgeon needs to keep procedures moving safely and efficiently.
• Master cardiac anatomy, bypass workflows, and perfusion dynamics to protect patient safety.
• Answer call for emergency surgeries and coverage as needed.

What We’re Looking For

The Non-Negotiables (Must-Haves)

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certifications:
  • NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
• Licensure: Active Virginia State License prior to your start date.

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Skills)

• CVOR Experience: 2+ years of recent CVOR experience (we're flexible if you bring exceptional background skills!).
• Scrubbing Expertise: Direct experience with:
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
  • Valve Replacements & Repairs
  • Aortic Surgeries & Structural Heart Procedures
  • ECMO & Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS)
• Equipment Mastery: Hands‑on confidence with EVH setup, sternal saws, cell savers, and cannulation/perfusion instrumentation.
