Job summary

UAB Medicine's UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham is hiring a full-time perioperative nurse for the CVOR department.

The role delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical procedures, performing both scrub and circulating functions and assisting the operating physician. The position requires an Alabama RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications, and a diploma from an accredited nursing program.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire; ACLS within 6 months; Alabama RN license required.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program and active licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for surgical patients.
• Perform scrub functions: instrument handling and supplies.
• Perform circulating functions: monitor patient condition and communicate status.
• Assist surgeon with tasks including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and instruments for use.
