Job summary

Portsmouth Regional Hospital in New Hampshire is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) to join our surgical team. You will be involved in evaluating patients preoperatively, delivering patient-centered care, and collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and support staff within a high-quality CVOR environment.

The ideal candidate will hold an NH RN license, have an Associate Degree of Nursing, ACLS/BLS, and at least 1 year of OR/CVOR experience.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• NH RN license required.
• Associate Degree of Nursing required.
• 1 year of OR/CVOR RN experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Consistently apply the nursing process, leadership, and critical thinking to deliver safe nursing care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures.
