Job summary

The Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham is seeking Registered Nurses for full-time, part-time and PRN shifts across days and nights.

The 8-bed unit provides care for patients recovering from cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgeries, with telemetry monitoring and advanced post-operative management. Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
