Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the CVICU Stepdown unit on day shifts at UAB St. Vincent's East in Birmingham. The role focuses on direct patient care, monitoring, and support within a high-acuity cardiovascular ICU stepdown environment.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 1 month (30 days) of hire date.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Ability to assist with ambulation and ADLs under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ambulation and transfers as needed.
• Provide assistance with activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes to nursing staff and document records.
• Keep patient rooms clean and maintain medical equipment.
• Perform basic technical duties (oxygen setup, catheter care, pulse oximetry, EKGs).
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs/outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
