Job summary

The role requires a BSN preferred, VA or multi-state license, and BLS; ACLS must be obtained within 30 days of starting. This full-time day-shift position emphasizes patient safety and high-quality cardiovascular care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Multistate Compact.
• 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital.
• 1 year of critical care (ICU) nursing experience preferred.
• BLS or BCLS certification.
• ACLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic care for seriously and critically ill patients with heart diseases.
• Care for post-op coronary bypass, valve repair/replacements, and MAZE patients; educate patients and families.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor vital signs per policies.
• Monitor, record and communicate patient conditions using computerized documentation systems each shift.
• Maintain cultural and diversity awareness when interacting with patients, visitors and staff.
