Qualifications

• Previous inpatient, acute care, & critical care PA/NP or RN experience strongly preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Bachelor’s Degree for Physician Assistant.
• Wisconsin RN License; Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License; Wisconsin Physician Assistant License; National certifications as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manages high-acuity, critically ill cardiac, post-operative cardiothoracic surgical, and mechanical circulatory device patients.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, advanced heart failure, cardiothoracic surgery, and cardiology teams.
• Patient population includes postoperative cardiac patients, heart and lung transplants, and mechanical circulatory devices (IABP, LVAD, Impella, VA/VV ECMO).
• Demonstrates strong clinical competence, critical decision-making, and the ability to assess, diagnose, and treat critically ill patients; manages care from admission to transfer.
• Participates in daily rounds with the Attending Intensivist, presenting 24-hour patient reports.
