Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a senior CVD Equipment Engineer to own reliability and availability of high‑volume CVD tools in Chandler, AZ. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, analyze trends, and drive corrective actions to keep tools up in production.

Responsibilities include leading preventive maintenance improvements, supporting tool upgrades and technology transfers, and mentoring technicians across Maintenance, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams.

• Experience owning issues beyond technician level and supporting multiple toolsets.

Job Description

CVD Equipment Engineer

Location: Chandler, Arizona (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior, hands-on Equipment Engineer to own the performance, reliability, and availability of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) equipment in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. The engineer will support multiple toolsets and processes, troubleshoot equipment issues, coordinate responses to recurring problems, and drive improvements to keep tools available for production. This role also supports preventive maintenance, root cause analysis efforts, equipment upgrades and qualifications, and technology transfers.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day reliability and production availability of assigned CVD toolsets.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment issues, with crossover capability across both areas preferred.
• Analyze equipment performance and failure trends to improve uptime, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
• Perform root cause problem solving and develop practical corrective actions.
• Improve preventive maintenance procedures, tool documentation, and best-known methods.
• Support defect reduction, process stability, equipment upgrades, parts qualifications, new tool installations, and technology transfers.
• Provide technical leadership, train or mentor technicians and engineers, and communicate findings across teams.
• Work cross-functionally with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a closely related field is required.

Experience:

A minimum of three years of hands‑on semiconductor equipment engineering experience in a high‑volume manufacturing or fab environment is required. Candidates must demonstrate practical ownership beyond technician‑level work.

Technical Skills

• Direct experience with CVD equipment, including at least one relevant platform such as Applied Materials Centura DXZ, Producer, P5000, Novellus Concept 2, or WJ-999. Substantial Etch experience on similar platforms may be considered.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of equipment diagnostics, root cause problem solving, and corrective action development.
• Ability to support multiple toolsets and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Eight or more years of equipment engineering experience.
• Experience across multiple CVD or deposition platforms.
• Experience with Etch, Diffusion, PVD, CMP, or Photolithography equipment.
• Familiarity with tool installation, equipment qualification, and vendor coordination.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, or 8D methodologies.
