Qualifications

• 2+ years in import ops, customs brokerage, or trade compliance.
• Working knowledge of U.S. import regulations and recordkeeping.
• Attention to detail with ability to manage compliance processes.
• Experience reconciling shipment, invoice, and customs entry data.
• FTZ operations experience.
• Familiarity with consumer goods import requirements.
• Advanced Excel proficiency with pivot tables and lookup functions.
• Familiarity with Section 232 tariffs.

Our client is a global logistics provider specializing in ocean freight, delivering comprehensive, end-to-end transportation and supply chain solutions that ensure efficient and reliable movement of cargo. They are currently looking to add a Customs Specialist to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$33/hr

Position Overview

The Customs Specialist plays a key role in supporting compliant and efficient U.S. import operations, including day-to-day activities and general customs support.

Responsibilities Of The Customs Specialist

• Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure the accurate and timely filing of U.S. import entries and the submission of all required documentation.
• Support duty management activities by reviewing and auditing import entries for accuracy and compliance with customs regulations.
• Review, analyze, and validate shipping reports to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain adherence to U.S. Customs regulations and support ongoing compliance initiatives.
• Prepare and maintain documentation required for customs broker PSC filings and trade compliance activities.

Required Experience/Skills For The Customs Specialist

• 2+ years of experience in import operations, customs brokerage, international logistics, or trade compliance.
• Working knowledge of U.S. import regulations and requirements, including import documentation, customs procedures, and recordkeeping standards.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to effectively manage compliance-focused processes and identify discrepancies.
• Proven ability to reconcile shipment, invoice, and customs entry data with a high degree of accuracy.
• Experience supporting or participating in Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) operations.
• Familiarity with consumer goods commodities and related import requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions, and data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with Section 232 aluminum and steel tariffs.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
