Key Responsibilities for the Customs Import Specialist:
- Manage U.S. import compliance activities and ensure adherence to customs regulations and internal policies.
- Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and maintain classification accuracy.
- Evaluate tariff and regulatory changes and assess business impact.
- Administer Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification programs and maintain supporting documentation.
- Coordinate customs entry processes and work closely with customs brokers to resolve import issues.
- Support duty optimization programs, audits, compliance reviews, and trade-related reporting.
Qualifications for the Customs Import Specialist:
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) credential required.
- Strong expertise in Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification.
- Experience with Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification and administration.
- Working knowledge of U.S. import regulations, customs compliance requirements, and customs entry processes.
- Experience evaluating tariff changes and their impact on business operations.
- Background in import operations, duty optimization programs, and trade compliance activities.
- Ability to effectively partner with procurement, logistics, business stakeholders, and external customs brokers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
