Job summary

GrandCHB INC. is seeking a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to support international trade operations from our Alhambra, CA office. The role focuses on accurate HTS classification, document auditing, and efficient customs clearance for clients, in a fast-paced logistics environment.

You will collaborate with carriers and customers, ensuring compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements while delivering high-quality service and timely updates.

Qualifications

• Minimum about 2 years of experience in customs brokerage or entry writer role.
• Familiar with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and incoterms.
• Ability to classify commodities and prepare accurate entries.

Responsibilities

• Audit documents and apply HTS codes for duty assessment.
• Prepare and execute customs entries for timely clearance.
• Follow SOPs and data requirements for customs clearance.
• Coordinate with steamship lines, freight forwarders, and CFS.
• Invoice customers for duty and entry charges.
• Provide updates to U.S. Customs and customers.

About the Role:

GrandCHB INC. is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Customs Entry Writer to join our team in Alhambra, CA. This is your opportunity to play a critical role in international trade operations, ensuring smooth and compliant customs clearance for our clients. Responsibilities:

• Audit commercial documents, applying Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code from the customer account HTS database for accurate duty assessment and ensuring all federal requirements are met.
• Prepare and execute customs entries, ensuring timely clearance and efficient follow up.
• Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each customer on the correct method and data requirements for customs clearance.
• Track and trace shipments and coordinate with steamship lines, freight forwarders and CFS on the availability of imported shipment.
• Follow up/coordinate customs examinations until completed and cargo pick up.
• Invoice customers for duty and entry charges.
• Provide updates to U.S. Customs and customers.
• Arrange for freight delivery of shipments.
• Respond to daily emails and incoming calls.
• Adhere to a high level of operational excellence with respect to on-time performance, accuracy, and customer service.

Requirements:

• Minimum about 2 year of experience in customs brokerage field as an entry writer.
• Prior experience with T86 is preferred
• Familiar with Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
• Ability to classify commodities is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of incoterms (terms of delivery) of the business.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with appropriate follow-up.
• Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
• Self-motivated and directed.
• High level of attention to detail
• Ability to work overtime during peak times when problems arise and/or customer requirements.
