Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of customs brokerage, import operations, or customs entry writing experience.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and HTS classification.
  • Experience with ACE filing systems and customs software is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy; strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit customs entry documentation for imported shipments.
  • Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
  • Ensure compliance with CBP regulations and other government agency requirements.
  • Verify shipping documents, invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading for accuracy.
  • Coordinate with importers, forwarders, carriers, and agencies to resolve shipment issues.
  • Monitor clearance status and address holds, exams, or information requests.
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with post-entry activities, audits, and corrections as required.
  • Stay informed on changes in regulations and trade compliance.

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Customs Entry Writer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and processing customs documentation to ensure the timely and compliant importation of goods. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import procedures, tariff classifications, and customs brokerage operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and submit customs entry documentation for imported shipments.
  • Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other government agency requirements.
  • Verify shipping documents, commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading for accuracy.
  • Coordinate with importers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to resolve shipment issues.
  • Monitor shipment clearance status and address customs holds, exams, or requests for additional information.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with post-entry activities, audits, and corrections as required.
  • Stay informed on changes in customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with government agency regulations such as FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, or DOT.
  • Knowledge of international trade and logistics operations.
