AIT Worldwide Logistics in Palatine, IL is seeking a Customs Entry Specialist II to support import operations by preparing and submitting import documentation in line with CBP requirements. You will verify shipment data, classify goods, coordinate with clients, carriers and authorities, and help resolve discrepancies to meet clearance deadlines.

Weekend shifts may be required. Attention to detail, strong communication, and proficiency in MS Office are essential; 3+ years in entry writing and CHB

Overview

The Customs Entry Specialist II ensures the efficient and compliant processing of international shipments by supporting the customs brokerage team with the preparation, review, and submission of import documentation in line with CBP and other regulatory requirements. This role involves verifying shipment data, assisting with classification, and coordinating with internal teams, clients, carriers, and customs authorities to resolve discrepancies and meet clearance deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Administrative tasks in the import operations department servicing the client and their suppliers, providing customer service as well as maintaining revenues from the client base and contracted vendors.
• File break/down, classifying data entry, photocopying, scanning and some assembling of entries. Import air recoveries, check cutting, and delivery order creation is part of this position.
• Auditing commercial documents, applying harmonized tariff schedule code for accurate duty assessment and to ensure all federal requirements are met.
• Document review and assessment of accuracy, verifying country of origin/export, IOR, terms of sale and value to ensure that compliance and federal regulation requirements are achieved.
• Daily follow up on documentation discrepancy issues which requires the ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers and foreign origins. Continuous follow-up on exams or customs/PGA holds.
• Position may require a weekend schedule on a department rotation basis and not limited to working a holiday schedule based on the needs of the operation and requirements of the account.
• An Entry Specialist II has shown familiarity with PGA requirements, takes on new tasks with minimal transition, is self-sufficient with strong problem-solving skills. They are able to assist others with questions and suggestions. They can review and read AMS/ABI messaging and can determine issues. They show motivation to learn more and grow in their processing ability. They continuously hit KPIs and have low error rates.

• The wage range for this position is $25.10-$39.50 and may vary based on geography as well as relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.

Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or GED or equivalent certificate (required)

Experience 3+ years Entry Writing (required) 2+ years Customs House Brokerage (CHB) or Imports (required)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Accurate and rapid data entry with the ability to multi-task Proven customer service needs with the ability to problem-solve Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook Strong organizational skills Excellent verbal and written skills Project a professional image to the customer and to represent AIT in a positive manner
