Job summary

City of Valparaiso, IN is seeking a Customer Support representative for the Parks Department to deliver exceptional service in person, by phone, and online, assisting with class registrations, facility rentals, and other recreational services. This role requires a high school diploma, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Prior recreation or customer service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication.
• Positive attitude, organized, and team-oriented.
• Experience with office machines and multiline phone system.
• Knowledge of Windows-based applications and Microsoft Office; willingness to learn new technology.
• Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment while remaining courteous.
• Recreation or customer service experience preferred.
• Background check, drug test, and essential function screening required.

Responsibilities

• Answer phone, direct calls, respond to emails, assist in-person customers, provide information and registration services, and process payments/refunds.
• Set up new customer accounts in computer software systems.
• Perform clerical tasks (typing, filing, mailings, reports).
• Handle financial tasks (receipts, payments, reports).
• Support administration and recreation staff functions as needed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
