Job description

Assists with scheduling and supervision of Store Support Team Members as well as with the day-to-day flow of the department. Supports the Store Support Team Leader and Associate Team Leader(s) to ensure smooth operation of the Store Support Team. All Whole Foods Market retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. All positions must be performed in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Further, Team Members must be prepared and able to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions. All positions must strive to support WFM core values and goals, promote national, regional, and store programs and initiatives, and ensure adherence to all applicable health and safety regulations including Food Safety and regulatory duties in the department.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Supervises and delegates tasks to Team Members.
  2. Works with Team Trainer to train Team Members, building a high-performance team and minimizing turnover.
  3. Assists in training new Team Members using learning checklists and training materials.
  4. Keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated.
  5. Resolves difficult customer situations.
  6. Ensures all necessary breaks are given.
  7. Communicates team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader.
  8. Communicates attendance issues or concerns to Team Leader and Store Leadership.
  9. Sets and achieves high standards of retail execution.
  10. Fosters a positive environment of teamwork, mutual respect, and morale.
  11. Maintains awareness of customer flow and needs, directing Team Members accordingly.
  12. Trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members to sustain high performance and minimize turnover.
  13. Provides timely and thorough performance evaluations.
  14. Models and communicates WFM vision and goals.

  • Demonstrates advanced product knowledge and awareness of new products.

  • Proficient in mathematical skills for financial assessment, profitability monitoring, and inventory management.

  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
Experience:
  • 12+ months retail experience.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Stand/walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday.
  • Hand use includes grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Work in temperatures below 32°F (freezing), 32-40°F (refrigerators), and above 90°F.
  • Ability to work in wet and cold environments.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Use of tools and equipment like box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery.
