City of Houston’s Flood Plain Management Office is seeking a Tier II Emergency Management position to oversee customer service operations and compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.
You will supervise staff, coordinate triage for plan reviews, and prepare reports detailing service trends and activity.

The position routinely works in a standard office environment with regular contact with the public, staff, contractors, and technical personnel. Work is typically performed under normal lighting, temperature, and air-conditioning conditions, with no major sources of discomfort. Occasional minor discomforts may occur due to less-than-optimal temperature or air-conditioning levels.
Requires a high school diploma or a GED.
Four (4) years of administrative or customer service-related experience is required.
Substitutions: Associate’s degree may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience.
Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for up to four (4) years of experience.

Preferences may be given to applicants that are proficient with ILMS (Integrated Land Management), ProjectDox, and Q-Flow. Preferences may also be given to applicants that are bilingual in Spanish.
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
