Sharyland Water Supply Corporation is seeking a Customer Service Inspection Clerk to support inspection and backflow programs, keep accurate records, and help protect water quality and compliance. You’ll work onsite in Alton, Texas, Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm, handling calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining files to meet TCEQ standards.
Sharyland Water Supply Corporation was established in May of 1968 for the purpose of providing safe, affordable drinking water to the rural communities in and around Mission, McAllen, and Edinburg. We continue to stride in that endeavor.
Sharyland Water Supply Corporation was created by a group of determined, community-minded men in the 1960's. With the help of Farmers Home Administration, a loan was acquired and construction began to build a rural water system. Initially, 700 property owners committed to take water service once construction was complete. Today, more than 50 years later, there are over 19, 000 water connections on the system.
The Corporation has approximately 100 square miles of Certified Area, 800 miles of water lines, three water plants, four elevated storage tanks and plans for additional water system improvements in the works.

As a Customer Service Inspection Clerk, you’ll help keep inspection and backflow programs running smoothly by supporting customers and maintaining accurate records that protect water quality and compliance. You’ll work onsite in Alton, Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm, starting your morning by checking messages and prioritizing customer needs. Throughout the day, you’ll switch between phone support and desk work-updating files, tracking tester documentation, and keeping paperwork neatly aligned for audits. You’ll coordinate timing with field staff as appointment calendars fill up, then prepare letters and mailings that keep customers informed and on schedule. When issues come up - like a missing form or a non-compliant account - you’ll follow established steps, document actions carefully, and ask questions when you need guidance. You’ll also pitch in with the Distribution team’s administrative tasks as needed, building hand-on experience across the department.
