Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

1. Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
2. Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to alarms or signals that may occur.
3. Disconnect the donor upon completion of the process.
4. Maintain alertness to any reactions from the donor during or after the process and notify appropriate staff.
5. Use Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.
6. Link equipment and soft goods used in the process to the donor via PDA.
7. Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
8. Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system following SOPs.
9. Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
10. Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure supplies are available; follow all HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety.
11. Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
12. May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
13. Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic math skills required.

Working Conditions

• Understand, remember, and apply oral and written instructions.
• Follow basic instructions and guidelines.
• Ability to see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
• Perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
• Reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate manual dexterity.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens; wear PPE as required.
• Work overtime and extended hours as needed to support operational needs.
