Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to specific alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor upon completion of the process.
• Maintain alertness to any reactions the donor may have during or after pheresis and notify appropriate staff.
• Record incidents such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events using the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
• Use PDA to link equipment and soft goods used in the process to the appropriate donor.
• Alert the Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system, following SOPs.
• Understand policies and procedures related to hyperimmune programs at the center, if applicable.
• Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure sufficient supplies are available. Follow all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies, promoting safety in all actions.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
• Bilingual skills may be required, at the organization’s discretion.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience
Minimum of three (3) months' work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic math skills required.

• Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Be exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
• Work overtime and extended hours to support operational needs.
