Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor area and equipment for the pheresis process, reporting to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

1. Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
2. Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to alarms or signals as needed.
3. Disconnect the donor upon completion of the process.
4. Observe and respond to any donor reactions during or after pheresis, notifying appropriate staff.
5. Record incidents, alarms, volume variances, and adverse events during pheresis using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
6. Link equipment and supplies to the donor in the system via PDA.
7. Alert the Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
8. Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic management system, following SOPs.
9. Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
10. Maintain a clean, safe work environment, ensuring supplies are available, and following HSE and OSHA policies.
11. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
12. Cross-train in other areas as needed.
13. Bilingual skills may be required.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• At least three months of work experience, preferably in a medical or health environment, or equivalent education and experience.
• Basic math skills required.

Working Conditions

• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Observe equipment and communicate effectively with customers.
• Perform tasks standing or walking up to 100% of the time.
• Reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate manual dexterity.
• Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
• Exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens; PPE required.
• Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
