Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to specific alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor upon completion of the process.
• Maintain alertness to any reactions the donor may have during or after pheresis and notify appropriate staff.
• Record incidents such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events using Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
• Link equipment and soft goods used in pheresis to the appropriate donor via PDA.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as per SOPs.
• Understand policies and procedures related to hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable.
• Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure sufficient supplies are available. Follow all HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
• Cross-train in other areas as needed.
• Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic math skills required.

Working Conditions

• Follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Follow basic instructions and guidelines.
• Ability to see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
• Perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
• Reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate high manual dexterity.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens; wear PPE as required.
• Work overtime and extended hours as needed to support operational needs.
