Job summary

The Zemba Companies is seeking a Customer Service Dispatcher to analyze and schedule product movements for the Ready-Mix Concrete and Materials line. You will work with drivers, operations, and customers to maximize transport efficiency and coordinate requests from sales personnel.

You will determine optimal routes, communicate changes, maintain dispatch records, and support in sales and materials orders while upholding safety practices and building strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of customer service experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule deliveries by optimizing locations and routes.
  • Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal staff to maximize transport efficiency.
  • Monitor driver locations and adjust plans for delays.
  • Maintain dispatch records of orders, charges, expenses, inventory, and requests.
  • Assist with sales and material orders as needed.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed and support special projects.

Job SummaryThe Customer Service Dispatcher will be responsible for analyzing and scheduling of product movements for the Company’s Ready-Mix Concrete and Materials business line. This position will work closely with the respective operations including drivers, internal personnel, and customers to maximize transport efficiency. Additionally, communicate with internal sales for any building materials and supplies requested by the customer.Essential FunctionsSchedule’s appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications or needs.Determine the best time and route for deliveries to optimize truck utilization and meet customer needs.Confers with customers or supervising personnel to address questions, problems, and requests for product.Monitors driver locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules.Addressing any issues that may arise during the dispatch process, such as delays or changes in the job site requirements.Records and maintain files and records of customer requests, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.Determines types or amount of product and vehicles required, while ensuring accurate pricing and quoting to satisfy customer product orders.Advises drivers and supervisors of traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions and other hazards.Builds professional relationships with customer bases.Assists in administrative execution and departmental support for any special projects, estimates, and work orders.Assists in retail and internal material sales.Ensures that all Company personnel follow proper safety procedures, including the proper use of safety equipment.Competencies or Experience Requirements1-3 years’ experience in customer service experience(preferred).Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.Strong organizational skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent problem-solving skills.Ability to work in a team environment.Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Frequent use of telephone, headset, and computer systems for extended periods.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.Ability to occasionally bend, reach, stoop, or lift office materials weighing up to 20 pounds.Visual ability to view computer monitors and dispatch systems for prolonged periods.Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations.Capability to move throughout the office or facility as necessary to coordinate operations and communicate with staff.Education RequirementsHigh School diploma or general education degree (GED)Change per jobSafetyStrict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.TravelTravel to job sites is required as needed.Additional ConsiderationsThe Zemba Companies’ culture and values are part of what makes the company successful and a great place to work.
