Job summary

Royal Technologies Corp. in Hudsonville is seeking a Customer Quality Engineer to lead quality initiatives, support production and launches, and strengthen customer relationships from our Corporate Grove facility.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in quality or engineering, 5+ years manufacturing experience, ISO/IATF knowledge, and travel readiness; injection molding is a plus. We offer weekly pay, quarterly bonuses, ESOP, excellent medical insurance, and an on-site wellness facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice and occasionally overnight.
  • Proficiency with quality tools (SPC, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans, Six Sigma).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 standards.

What You'll Do

Your future starts here! The Customer Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring consistent quality assurance and fostering positive customer relationships. This role involves leading internal and external quality initiatives, facilitating problem‑solving activities, and providing technical support for production and launch activities. Based out of our Corporate Grove facility in Hudsonville, this position reports directly to the Director of Quality.

Responsibilities
Customer Relationship Management
  • Facilitate clear verbal and written communications between the organization and customers.
  • Ensure excellent and timely corrective-action (ex: 8D) responses to customer concerns.
  • Travel to key customer locations for improvement activities and issue resolution.
  • Manage issue‑containment efforts both at customer locations and within the organization.
  • Manage and maintain customer scorecards.
Continuous Improvement, Root-Cause Analysis, And Problem-Solving
  • Utilize robust root‑cause analysis techniques to promptly address issues with customers and internal processes.
  • Apply critical thinking to analyze complex quality problems and develop effective preventive solutions.
  • Lead and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Facilitate internal problem‑solving activities, providing guidance and hands‑on coaching to cross‑functional problem solving teams.
  • Support Quality Technicians in tasks such as gauge management, part and process measurements, and new launch activities.
Technical Support For Production And Launch Activities
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth execution of production processes and launches.
  • Provide technical support for quality‑related tasks during production and launch activities.
Quality Training And Internal Audits
  • Assist in quality training for the organization, ensuring adherence to quality standards and procedures.
  • Internal auditing activities, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Participate in Layered Process Audits across multiple shifts to maintain quality standards.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confrontation with high acumen in communication strategies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel on short notice and occasionally overnight.
  • Proficiency in utilizing standard quality tools and documentation, including but not limited to SPC, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans, Six Sigma methodologies, Pareto Analysis, APQP, PPAP, with familiarity in ISO9001/IATF16949 standards.
  • Completion of VDA 6.3 and/or IATF 16949 Internal Auditor training is preferred.
  • Injection molding experience is a plus.
