Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a retail associate to act as the first point of contact for customers and to help maintain merchandising standards. You will stock, display, and rotate merchandise, assist customers on the floor, and operate the cash register to complete purchases.

In this role you’ll follow store processes, help with checkout responsibilities, and support storefront and backroom operations.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan‑o‑gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons; stock room or sales floor.
• Build merchandise displays and rotate stock on shelves.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise and answering questions.
• Operate cash register, itemize totals, and make change.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners.
