Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington in Manassas, VA is seeking a friendly retail team member to be the face of our store. You will help customers, stock merchandise, ring up sales, and maintain a welcoming shopping environment.

You will handle cash with accuracy, assist with daily store duties, and keep the sales floor neat. Prior retail experience and strong customer service skills are preferred; multilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and GGW associates.
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all of our customers.
• Ability to settle customer complaints.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift).
• Ability to bend and lift up to 40 pounds frequently.
• Basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register.
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator.
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance.
• Maintain an orderly and clean register area.
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary
• Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include: store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms)
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
