Job summary

Memphis Goodwill Inc. is seeking a Cashier to greet customers both in person and by phone, handle cash accurately, and operate the POS system for everyday sales.

The role requires attentive service, safe handling of cash, and active participation in the store’s Change Round-up program to support community initiatives. The position involves stocking, displaying merchandise, assisting with promotions, and maintaining a clean, orderly sales floor.

Qualifications

• Ability to greet customers in person or by phone with a friendly, prompt service.
• Accurate cash handling of all transactions, including coupons and discounts.
• Ability to operate the POS system to ensure correct pricing and data entry.
• Commitment to safety and proper handling of cash receipts and movement of merchandise.
• Willingness to participate in in-service training and onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers via phone or in person in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner.
• Operates the POS to ensure accurate and efficient sales data, price, and information codes on merchandise.
• Ensures proper cash handling of all transactions including proper processing of coupons and discounts.
• Responsible to ensure the integrity of the Change Round-up program to support the mission.
• Cleans front doors, counters, glass, dusts cases, and keeps front of store clean, returns carts and baskets.
• Assists with promotions including information postings and displays.
• Stocks and maintains counter, showcases and cash/wraps in neat condition at all times.
• Works safely and reports safety hazards or concerns.
• Assists in training new cashiers.
• Cleans dressing rooms and re-hangs clothes as needed.
• Places items onto sales floor in correct locations and rotates merchandise.
• Adheres to all Memphis Goodwill policies and safety practices; reports injuries.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Team Leader Coach.
