Job summary

Ganahl Lumber is seeking a dependable Cashier (Full-Time) to support front-end operations in a busy hardware and lumber yard. You will greet customers, process transactions, and assist with product questions while maintaining a clean counter area.

The role requires full-time availability Monday through Saturday, with shifts including opening, mid-day, and closing based on business needs. Prior cashier or retail experience is preferred, especially in hardware or construction environments.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier or retail experience preferred (hardware experience a plus).
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable working with contractors and jobsite professionals.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle transactions accurately.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Greet all customers promptly and professionally.
• Accurately process transactions including cash, credit, and account sales.
• Handle contractor accounts, charge sales, and receipts with attention to detail.
• Assist customers with basic product questions (tools, hardware, fasteners, materials).
• Communicate clearly with yard staff and departments for pickups and special orders.
• Direct customers to appropriate departments (lumber, tools, paint, etc.).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked front counter area.
• Process returns, exchanges, and refunds according to company policy.
• Balance cash drawer and ensure accuracy at shift start and end.
• Support front-end merchandising (impulse items, fasteners, seasonal items).
• Assist with answering phones and routing calls as needed.
