Job summary

You will respond to customer questions about products, recommend items, check freshness, stock and label merchandise, and participate in safety and food safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Effective communication skills required.
• Retail experience preferred.
• Second language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items and inform customers of specials.
• Check product quality, review sell-by dates and take action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide fresh products as ordered.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and proper temperatures in cases and coolers.
