Job summary

Kroger Co. in Salem, OR is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker to deliver outstanding service, greet customers, and maintain a safe, welcoming checkout area.

You will process transactions quickly and accurately, handling various tenders and loyalty offers in line with company policy. As a member of the store team, you will follow food safety guidelines, uphold loss prevention standards, and assist with store operations while maintaining honesty and integrity.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in the store.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently at the checkout.
• Operate the POS system and handle cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC and loyalty offers according to policy.
• Adhere to cash handling limits and work to control loss.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions; ensure food safety regulations are followed.
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions, accidents or issues.
• Inspect equipment and coordinate repairs with management as needed.
• Create a welcoming environment and answer customer questions about products.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and resolve issues professionally.
