Job summary

Fred Meyer is seeking a friendly cashier/counter clerk to greet customers, process transactions at the checkout, and provide helpful product guidance. You will be responsible for accurate cash handling, operating the POS system, and following store policies for safety and loss prevention.

The role requires good math skills, reliable communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly manner
• Process transactions quickly and accurately at the check lane
• Understand POS system and handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons
• Adhere to cash handling limits and loss prevention policies
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs)
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
• Stay current with ads and store promotions
• Follow food safety and safety procedures
• Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions
• Work well under pressure and resolve conflicts calmly
• Comply with all laws and company policies
• Assist minors, persons with special needs, and older adults as needed
