Job summary

Addepar is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build agentic systems from idea to production, collaborating with clients and core engineering teams. You will design agent behavior, wire tool integrations, and refine AI workflows to deliver scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes rapid prototyping, rigorous evaluation, and closeness to end users to ensure product quality and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Proficiency with Python (team's primary language).
Experience with LLM APIs including function calling and structured outputs.
Comfort with SQL for data exploration and data-grounded AI workflows.
Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar).
Built something from zero to one and ships to production.

Responsibilities

Build AI-powered agents and tools end-to-end: identify client problems, prototype, evaluate, and ship to production.
Design and implement LLM integrations including prompt engineering, function calling, outputs, and retrieval-augmented workflows.
Define evaluation criteria and build test harnesses for AI systems where correctness is ambiguous.
Work directly with clients to understand workflows, validate AI behavior, and iterate toward production quality.
Partner with core engineering teams to generalize client-specific work into product features.
Contribute to shared AI infrastructure (agent frameworks, tool integrations, deployment pipelines).
Monitor and maintain production AI systems with focus on reliability, cost, and performance.
