Job summary

Lakes Gas, a family-owned propane provider serving the Midwest, is hiring a Full-time Customer Service Representative at one of our 60+ locations. You'll assist walk-in, phone, and email customers, schedule service work with the Branch Manager, and close sales while handling payments and invoices.

Ideal candidates have strong customer service skills, proficiency in Word/Excel, and the ability to learn web-based applications used in the propane industry.

• Strong data entry skills to maintain and update customer records and product inventories.
• Enhanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn, manage, and navigate web-based applications used in the propane industry.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent service to customers and potential customers, including walk-in, telephone or email.
• Working closely with the Branch Manager to schedule service work.
• Closing sales on inbound and outbound calls and emails.
• Soliciting and collecting payments on past-due invoices in a timely manner and actively working on customer account balances.
• Managing cash and credit card activities while performing account reconciliations.
• Processing branch mail, including trips to and from the post office (valid driver’s license required).
• Making daily bank deposits.
• Preparing weekly and monthly reports and ensuring due dates are met.
• Monitoring and ordering office supplies and forms per company ordering procedures.
• Promptly and accurately coding vendor invoices for payment.
• Lifting up to 30 pounds to assist customers with cylinder fills.
• Being available for limited travel within the regional area as required.
• Driving customer retention and reinforcing strategies for growth.
