Job summary

Kroger in Ohio is seeking a friendly, customer-focused Bagger/Courtesy Clerk to greet customers, assist with products, and keep the aisles clean and organized.

You will process transactions at the checkout, operate the POS system, handle cash and other tenders, and follow safety, loss prevention, and store policies to ensure a positive shopping experience.

The role emphasizes excellent communication, calm handling of busy periods, and helping customers feel welcome and valued.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle various tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons) according to policy.
• Understand and adhere to limits on cash shortages/overages and work to control loss.
• Follow policies for restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Follow established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present and future ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Maintain safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued.
