Job summary

Kroger in Battle Ground, WA is seeking a customer-focused Cashier/Checker to greet customers, process transactions accurately and help create an outstanding shopping experience.

You will handle cash, checks, and card payments, follow store policies on restricted items, and stay current with ads and promotions while upholding food safety and loss-prevention standards. This role emphasizes honesty, integrity, and service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers as a visible cashier.
• Process customer transactions at the check lane quickly and accurately.
• Understand the POS system and handle tender types per policy (cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons).
• Adhere to cash-shortage/overage limits and loss-prevention guidelines.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of needed repairs.
• Provide friendly, informative customer service and answer product questions.
• Comply with local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment and manage conflicts calmly.
• Handle customer and business information with honesty and integrity.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Support minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
