Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Cashier/Checker to deliver exceptional customer service, greet and assist shoppers, and process transactions efficiently at the checkout lane. The role requires adherence to safety guidelines, accurate handling of cash and electronic payments, and strict compliance with company policies on restricted items and promotions.

You'll contribute to a welcoming store environment, manage pricing discrepancies, and maintain a safe, clean workspace.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in a visible manner.
• Process cashier transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle tenders (cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons).
• Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and prevent loss.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued.
• Adhere to laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and handle conflicts calmly.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
