Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a customer-focused cashier/checker to deliver outstanding service and maintain a safe, clean store environment. You will greet customers, process transactions, and operate the POS system with accuracy while following all policies and guidelines.

You will handle various tenders, stay informed about promotions, and follow food safety regulations while assisting diverse customers, including minors and seniors, in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly, visible manner
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and securely at the checkout
• Operate POS system and handle cash, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, and loyalty offers
• Maintain loss prevention by following cash handling guidelines and store policies
• Follow rules for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs)
• Note pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons
• Stay informed about current and upcoming promotions and ads
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and safety procedures
• Report unsafe conditions and coordinate with management to fix issues
• Inspect equipment and communicate maintenance needs to the appropriate person
• Create a welcoming environment and answer questions about products across the store
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
• Work well under pressure and manage conflicts calmly
• Protect customer and business information with honesty and integrity
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve customer issues
• Provide assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
• Capably perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation
