Job summary

American Electric Power Co. in Michigan seeks a senior leader to guide the Customer Design team responsible for the design of power system electrical facilities.

You will develop relationships with stakeholders and customers and provide direction to ensure quality and timely project delivery. The role emphasizes staff development, budgeting, compliance with safety and corporate policies, and delivering training to support Customer Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering, or related field; or associate's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering, plus two years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 6 years' utility experience or related experience in engineering, construction, or supervision.
• Licenses/Certifications: Registered Professional Engineering License (PE) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for the Customer Design team engaged in the design of power system electrical facilities.
• Develop relationships and effective communication with stakeholders and customers.
• Ensure customer-focused attitude and understanding of customer expectations; drive superior customer satisfaction.
• Advise on design, material, and work progress to control costs within budget and meet codes and schedules.
• Develop employee skills via training opportunities; strengthen technical and professional capabilities.
• Administer and enforce company policies including wage/salary administration and performance management.

• Supervise staffing: set expectations, assign responsibilities, provide feedback, and ensure resources.
