Job summary

Compass is seeking a Commission Specialist in Charlotte or Raleigh to reconcile and process agent commissions for sales and rental closings. The role interfaces with Finance and Accounting and requires accurate, timely processing of commission payments.

The position is hybrid (in-office 1 day every other week) and involves collaboration with product/engineering to improve the transaction system and support for agents across the organization.

Qualifications

• BA or BS degree.
• Real estate license.
• 2+ years of experience in an accounting or payroll function; commissions or sales environment preferred.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong quantitative skills.
• Proficient in Excel.

• Be comfortable with new system rollouts.
• Prior experience in real estate.

Responsibilities

• Issue commission payments to agents and track referrals and deductions.
• Process closed transactions using a real estate transaction system.
• Collaborate with Product & Engineering to improve the transaction system.
• Ensure commission calculations are correct and policy-compliant.
• Partner with Accounting to research and respond to commission inquiries affecting monthly close.
• Request stop payments and process corrections/adjustments.
• Provide support to agents regarding payouts, deductions, and calculations.
• Respond promptly to correspondence from agents and sales managers.
• Process changes to agent commission splits and generate ad hoc financial reporting.
• Validate accuracy of commission calculations and records in company systems.

Note: This is a hybrid position (in-office 1 day every other week)

As a Commission Specialist, you will be an integral member of our dynamic and growing Charlotte OR Raleigh Financial Services team. You will assume responsibility for reconciling and processing commissions for sales and rental real estate closings. You will ensure accuracy and timely completion of all commission processing. You will play a critical role in the company's day-to-day operations, interacting daily with agents and the Finance and Accounting teams.

At Compass, You Will:

• Issue commission payments to agents, while tracking referral payments and agent deductions
• Process closed transactions using a real estate transaction system
• Collaborate with the Product & Engineering Team to help us build a better real estate transaction system
• Ensure all commission calculations are correct and compliant with policy
• Partner with the Accounting team to research and respond to commission inquiries impacting the monthly financial statement close
• Request stop payment on agent commission checks and process any corrections and adjustments
• Provide support to agents in response to inquiries regarding commission payouts, deductions, and commission calculations
• Be prompt in answering correspondence from the agents and sales managers
• Process changes to agent commission splits and generate ad hoc agent financial reporting
• Navigate company systems to validate accuracy of commission calculations and records
