Job description

Starkey is looking to add a Custom Repair Technician II to its team at its global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. The technician is responsible for analyzing and repairing hearing aid products to meet dealer/customer specifications. Specific products include, but are not limited to, models such as ITE, ITC, CIC, and TY. The role also involves driving process and product improvements. Technicians must be certified in analysis, wiring, case, cut/buff, and final assembly. Certified technicians have opportunities to advance to higher positions such as Custom Repair Tech 1, Customer Repair Tech II, Senior Customer Repair Tech, and Master Artist.

Job Duties:
  1. Analyze hearing aids and customer complaints using electronic equipment and Inspire Software. Record component failures, code complaints and actions, and order replacement parts. Use Pareto System and CQ Repair Analysis System for failure recording.
  2. Wire hearing aids from start to finish using correct components, replace components as needed, perform listening tests, check drains, and verify proper wiring and functionality.
  3. Verify sound and cosmetic quality of hearing aids, making adjustments for oscillation or feedback, and repairing cosmetic defects.
  4. Cut, trim, bevel, and buff hearing aids to desired appearance.
  5. Ensure hearing aids meet final appearance standards, verify functionality, add all final options, and complete within designated timeframes using lean manufacturing principles.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in hearing aids or small electronics preferred but not required.
  • Soldering knowledge is helpful.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Attention to detail and high-quality standards.
  • Teamwork and following instructions.
  • Ability to read diagrams and communicate effectively.
  • Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to work with small parts.
  • Good vision, color differentiation, troubleshooting skills, and hearing ability for listening tests.
  • Basic computer skills are desired.
Compensation and Benefits:

The target salary range is $19.25 to $26.25 per hour, depending on various factors. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), life and disability insurance, PTO, holidays, volunteer days, paternity leave, tuition reimbursement, and hearing aid benefits. The position may be eligible for a performance-based bonus.
