Job summary

Frontier Door and Cabinet is seeking a Custom Microvellum Engineer in Tacoma, WA to modify existing designs into new custom products and produce CNC programs for the machine operator.

You will review drawings, assign materials, create 2D shop drawings in AutoCAD, and prepare release packages such as BOMs and cut lists for production. The role requires Microvellum experience or equivalent AutoCAD/cabinetry work, with CNC programming familiarity.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Microvellum experience, or equivalent AutoCAD and cabinetry/millwork experience required.
• Experience building custom products or libraries is a strong plus.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and English.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and choose the right starting product to modify into a new custom product.
• Create and modify custom products in Microvellum from standard specifications.
• Assign materials with attention to thickness, sizes, and grain direction.
• Assign machining for hardware, hinges, pulls, drawer slides, etc.
• Produce nest drawings and CNC programs for the machine operator.
• Prepare release packages: cut lists, BOMs, and programming information.
• Troubleshoot G-code and machine error codes related to CNC.
• Collaborate with detail and shop floor personnel on manufacturing concerns.
• Create 2D construction and shop drawings in AutoCAD meeting codes.
• Prepare approval drawings so key information is signed off.
